If you’re in the Gallatin, TN area, contact The Barfield Alliance. We will help you find the right type of Medicare plan for you. We offer our clients a simple guided process that provides the knowledge needed upfront for you to make the best decision for your needs, whether those needs mean Original Medicare, a Medicare Advantage plan or a Medicare Supplement. Get accurate information and avoid costly mistakes with The Barfield Alliance.
The plans are usually all-inclusive, combining Parts A (hospital insurance), Part B (medical insurance), and Part D (drug insurance). In addition, other benefits are usually part of the plan, including vision, dental, hearing, and over-the-counter benefits to people who have Medicare. The plans must follow the rules of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid.
The plans have lower co-pays than Original Medicare and most importantly specify your maximum out-of-pocket cost for the year, while Original Medicare does not limit your financial damages due to medical costs. While with Original Medicare, you are responsible for 20% of the amount that Medicare says is a reasonable fee, no matter how high your costs are in any given year. This is a significant financial risk.
Medicare Advantage plans provide significant preventive opportunities for maintaining your health without any out-of-pocket costs for many routine preventive tests.
We step you through the entire process, learning your specific needs. We provide essential learning about Medicare, including how it operates, your rights and responsibilities, types of Medicare plans available, as well as help finding a plan that includes your physicians and an appropriate drug plan. We also assist with meeting deadlines because being late can add additional fees or prevent you from obtaining the desired coverage. And we continue to support you even after signing up with your chosen plan.
Plans can be found in HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare-Medicaid, and Veteran plan categories to suit specific needs. Each type has specifics regarding the use of their networks. Referrals have become more limited.
Once chosen, a plan is meant to cover you for the year or more, with changes being made during the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) if desired. AEP is always 10/15-12/07 with changes implementing on the following January 1.

What are Medicare Advantage plans?
Medicare Advantage plans, offered by insurance companies, are all inclusive plans required to provide the same Part A and Part B benefits as Medicare with additional benefits at more competitive pricing. These plans also provide a cap on your financial obligation for your out-of-pocket medical costs within a calendar year.
Some commonly offered additional benefits in Medicare Advantage plans include vision care with money toward glasses and contacts, dental services, hearing exams and hearing aids, over-the-counter benefits, and include prescription drug coverage within their plan.

The entire process has timelines to keep in mind. Missing one can mean loss of an opportunity or adding significantly to the cost of your coverage.
As an independent agent, we represent numerous insurance companies that provides us access to a broad range of plans that we can sell to meet specific client’s needs. Unlike agents who are employed solely by one insurance company and their plans, we help our clients learn about the ins and outs of Medicare, meet deadlines, and keep them from making costly mistakes. As independent agents, our services are also offered at no cost to our clients. This is possible because our compensation is provided by the insurance companies we represent.
You might be wondering if you might need Medicare Supplement insurance. This is an understandable question that many of us have asked. Medicare Supplements are often referred to as Medigap coverage. Medicare Supplements are optional, however, generally worth it, especially if you have current costly health issues. A Medicare Supplement plan fills the 20% gap in your medical coverage left by Original Medicare thereby taking out that sizable risk. And it takes care of things like co-payments and co-insurance. However, there is a timeframe that needs to be met to qualify for a Supplement when you have issues with your health. As you can see. Medicare Supplements can be a confusing topic if you do not understand the ins and outs. That’s why we are here for you. Give us a call today.
